Professional Nic Gilks began his career in golf in 1975 at Edgbaston golf club Birmingham. He became a fully qualified member of the Professional Golfers Association in 1979 and moved to Tamworth municipal golf course as head teaching professional.
His first head professional job came in 1982 at Market Harborough Golf Club. During his time there he played some of his best golf winning the county championship twice, the match play championship, the alliance championship and the county ProAm foursomes twice.
After eight years he moved to Nuneaton Golf Club for twelve months before heading north to Stockton on Tees at Eaglescliffe Golf Club. After four years the opportunity came along to move back home to Nuneaton and open a newly built golf course at Bramcote Waters.
